While it may sound like an odd combination, this mesh-lined system has been tested and proven over decades’ of expeditions in some of the harshest environments. In fact, Brynje clothing was worn by the adventurers Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, on their legendary expedition to scale Mount Everest in 1953. The merino wool outer provides an extremely soft, warm and comfortable feel, while the mesh inner helps to trap pockets of air giving superb insulation.
The Antarctic Jacket includes a number of much-needed features for winter wear, all of which will be appreciated when the cold weather hits. These include the aforementioned Proline Windstopper windproof membrane, which provides all-over protection from biting winds; a fitted, adjustable hood; a drop-tail hem in the back for keeping out draughts; toggle adjustments at the hem and hood for a close fit; snug cuffs with hand-warming thumb-holes; a full-length zip with a tall collar; zipped chest pockets; zipped hand pockets; and finally, zipped vents under the arms for heat management.
This garment has been designed for year-round use in cold conditions, including extended winter expeditions. Thanks to its casual style, the Antarctic Jacket is equally suitable for use when travelling, walking or everyday wear at home or in the office during the winter months.
